First Ever Cash Mob in River Falls, Wisconsin

Picture

TAP has initiated a "Cash Mob" movement in River Falls. The idea is simple: local citizens come together and go, as a group to a local business to shop. This is a great way to support local business, keep our dollars in the community, and create a more cohesive community. Three cash mob events were held in December of 2012 and TAP will continue to host them regularly during 2013.

What we stand for

The Awareness Project is a group of concerned and progressive citizens standing up for the Constitution of the United States of America. We recognize that the intent of the nation's founders was to establish a system of government in which:

1. Every citizen has an equal voice
2. Where every citizen has the same rights and responsibilities
3. Which would provide for the common good of the nation

We acknowledge that as the work of many minds, the U. S. Constitution stands as a model of cooperative statesmanship and the art of compromise.

Our Purpose:

To encourage, educate, and empower citizens to take action and make their voices heard through the power of their rights of free speech and the right to vote.

 Our Mission:

To provide educational opportunities to all citizens and to increase the understanding of political issues in Wisconsin. To increase civic engagement through education, community service, and citizen action.

What's new at TAP?

There are lots of new activities coming up at TAP in the next few months.

On March 10, we will be showing the Award-winning film, Genetic Roulette. This film gives viewers an up-close look at how genetically modified foods affect us.

TAP is also selling non-GMO heirloom seeds from the Seedsavers Exchange. Click here to learn more.

On March 11th, join TAP and our partners at We Are Wisconsin, AFSCME and the College Democrats for a screening of the We Are Wisconsin Documentary.   South Hall Room 120 6:30 PM.

April 6th, join us and all the hep cats in River Falls, for a live performance of the Amazing Jazz Band the Gigsters.  Tickets are a suggested donation of $10 bucks and 50% of all proceeds goes to the band.  Come support this new and awesome group of musicians, and have a great night of fun and dancing!

TAP Quote of the Month:

Call to Action!

Picture
Enough is enough!  We rallied on May 5--over 100 people in the sleet and rain to stand up for women's rights.

Our next rally must be in November at the voting booth. It will be a lot warmer in there--and we will make bigger change. VOTE November 6.

Civic Engagement

Picture
_

Civic engagement means working to make a difference in the civic life of our communities and developing the combination of knowledge, skills, values and motivation to make that difference. It means promoting the quality of life in a community, through both political and non-political processes.

A morally and civically responsible individual recognizes himself or herself as a member of a larger social fabric and therefore considers social problems to be at least partly his or her own; such an individual is willing to see the moral and civic dimensions of issues, to make and justify informed moral and civic judgments, and to take action when appropriate.  Thomas Ehrlich, Oryx Press, 200

We are the G-PAC

We are NOT a political action committee. We ARE a Grassroots-People's Action Committee. We are a group of citizens who have come together in response to the changing political climate in our state and nation. We want to create a community where citizens are informed and have access to the information they need to make sound decisions about their government.

The Awareness Project is about Civic Engagement and Education
We believe that people have the inherent capacity to solve their own problems and that social transformation is within the reach of all communities.

Our goal is to partner with those committed to inclusion, impact, and innovation in solving public problems. We seek engagement through dialogue, leadership development, collaboration, and new models of organizing and new pipelines for leadership. Working together, we can take our future into our own hands.

OurGoals

Our goals are

1. to provide opportunities for dialogue, debate, and other educational activities that will allow citizens to make sound decisions regarding the protection of rights for every citizen.
2. to encourage actions which promote "the common good."
